Why do I like this? It feels wrong

Nope.
On top of that, I think the Bandit’d cut his ow nuts off first before he’s ever found driving that thing.

It’s all about the marketing bucks, and in 2009 CUVs were in. He’d drive whatever his corporate overlords, those insecure, clueless ‘ geniuses’ with marketing degrees from party schools and a 2.1 GPA, would tell him to drive.

The Aztek was dropped in 2005, though it took dealers a bit longer to finish selling through their stock.
I bet they would have put him in a G6 coupe or convertible, I remember how hard GM was trying to push that as a “sporty” choice, and they were doing a decent amount of product placement with it already.

Well, the trans am was one of the fastest american cars at the time, about matching the corvette. Sales were seriously sliding in the mid 70s. Nothing really comparable in 2009, so maybe a viper? I feel like a V iper would have been too expensive to make sense in context. Challenger would, make sense since it was released in 2008, I doubt either ford or gm would have ponied up in ‘09.
So no, not an aztec. If pontiac remade the firebird it would have been just like any of the other abominations based on the camaro.

The G6 sedan with the 3.9L/6-speed combo was pretty damn impressive to drive thanks to the 3.9's huge torqueband.
